If really on, propagation very poor. Try the repeats at 18 or 22 which will require remotes for us: ``1800-1900 UTC 9670 kHz with beam E-F towards South Asia but usable in Europe and parts of Eurasia 2200-2300 UTC 3955 & 6070 kHz (omnidirectional for Europe and beyond) All transmissions from Channel 292, Rohrbach, Germany`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY. Uncle Bill Tilford replies to my last report about no reception of `Melting Pot`, Dec 21 at 0400 on 9670: ``I did get an accurate, detailed reception report from a listener in Uruguay using a remote websdr in North Carolina, but yeah, this has performed poorly two weeks in a row. Whether seasonal propagation or something at the transmitter, no sense in keeping the 0400 broadcast. Even when the signal is better it wrestles with the Brazilian evangelists on 9665, so that was the last transmission at 0400.`` So I try the next play: At 1800 am getting 9670 fairly well via UTwente, despite proximity to Channel 292, but deep fades - not much at SDRs in Russia, Cyprus, Romania, etc. And nothing on two SDRs in India, despite S Asian `target`. And then by 1814 fades down and almost out at UTwente. Try Ireland, even tho in wrong direxion. I`m getting it fairly now on one of those, vs some noise. That too loses out by around 1840. One more chance, 2200 on 6070 and 3955. 6070 is no good into UTwente, but 3955 is S9+5/15, no QRM and holds up so I hear the whole show. While I am all for programming to be on Shortwave, primarily, it`s too bad if there be no backup/alternative allowed for those who really want to hear it, such as webcast, even on-demand (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Dec 25 at 0735, still zero signal from R. Well, nothing requires it to stay in one place (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO has made a number of program schedule changes and finally updated here in CST = UT -6: https://classicalkuco.org/schedule/ But they still refuse to display what airs early Saturdays! Dec 21 at 0600 we heard `Cafe Chill` which includes ambient music but too much talk, previously at 0800; and when I roused circa 0900+ I think it was `Retro Cocktail Hour`. Friday nights = UT Saturdays, `Hearts of Space` and `Beyond the Barrier` have moved forward two hours to 03-04 & 04-06 UT respectively. `Reel Music` remains Fridays 19-20, but Saturday repeat is at 22-23 instead of 17-18 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Ditto (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** PUERTO RICO [and non]. 391 MCW kHz, Dec 20 at 0725 UT, DDP, ND beacon is JBA. Always nice to get this one; only wish there were more from Latin America - even on air any more? I go thru the complete RNA list arranged by ITU country, https://rxx.classaxe.com/en/rna/signals and pick out a few still last reported this year, mostly in Nov or Dec, frequencies meriting intense attention especially during `auroral` conditions: 235 PJE, St Eustatius 305 BNE, St Lucia 323 TAB, Trinidad & Tobago 327 FXC, Cayenne, Guiana French 330 UAM, Stgo de Cuba 385 PTP, Guadeloupe 415 SLU, St Lucia There are also a number in Brasil = 7 reported in 2024; Ecuador, 6 reported this year but I omit as too far; and at the end starting with X, somewhere in International Waters or unID. All services are affected except Serbian, Italian, Ukrainian and Aromanian`` John A. Figliozzi says, ``Romanian has moved to 7250 kHz. This is not currently noted on the rri.ro website as far as I can tell. Parenthetically, weekends especially relay music  programs from the domestic Radio Romania Muzical. Currently, at 0204, there’s a classical music concert in progress. RRI’s transmitters are top notch and put a very strong signal into at least Eastern NA from both their NA and EU services. 0500-0557 the Romanian language program relays the morning program from the domestic Radio Romania Actualitat{s}i on 7220 kHz that includes many pop music selections.`` Ricky Leong, Calgary, Alberta, Canada: ``In EE at 0400 UTC, they are using both 7410 kHz (registered in HFCC but not in use until now in B24) and 9510 (registered frequency and regularly in use so far during B24). Inline image -- George McClintock 12-18-2024`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** U S A. 9955-9995, Dec 23 at 2310, 9980 WWCR is spewing gunk way out on both sides, worst 9965-9995, but detectable next to 9955 WRMI. Is same #4 transmitter dedicated to TOMBs as on 5890 later as I have already complained. BUT, 9910-9950 spews similar sounds from WTWW-1 9930. Both of course much stronger here than squeezed WRMI. It seems quite clear that the problem is in the modulation of the program feed from Walterboro. Stations need to find some way to filter all those squeals and sidespurs out (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9350, Dec 24 at 2252, WWCR-2 with squealing gunk both sides out to 9335/9365, S9+50 at center. Same transmitter which does the same later out of 5935. Its other channels are 7490 & 12160 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12160, Dec 25 at 1622, WWCR-2 surrounded by gunk, squeals out to plus/minus 10 kHz, center S9+45. Same transmitter elsewhen on 5935, 7490, 9350. However, at this time cannot be blamed on TOMBS feed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` WBCQ chex Dec 21 at 0047: to NH SDR, 7490 is weak and getting creamed by 7495 VOA KUWAIT to Afghanistan, S7/S9. 6160 -68 Hz = 6159.932 is VP S4/S5. 5130 & 3265 are OFF. So I switch to Maryland SDR, for VERY different results, beyond the 7490 skip zone and not much from JBA 7495: 7490 -76 Hz = 7489.924 achieves S9+15/20, 6160 -69 Hz = 6159.931 is JBA, 5130 off. BUT circa *0055, 5130 -24 Hz = 5129.974 comes on with IS & IDs. 0100 starting AAAWWW but 5130- is distorted, so I switch to 7490-. Opens with ``Merry Xmas`` so it`s new as expected since they bothered to fire up 5130 for one hour a week. Word interjected during WTO theme pause toward end is ``carbonated``. A&A are having some cognac, but Allan doesn`t like champagne since it`s carbonated. 0109 gives frequencies as 7490 & 5130, 0110 into abrupt raucous music. Unusually some more tunes, apparently picked by Angela, but Allan using phone to play them after fishing around; how informal. 0121 says would like to run different serious music programs on 3, 5 and 6 MHz but needs sponsors. 0129 says expects some National ``Socialist`` Public Radio programming about WBCQ and SW in 2025, stemming from a 2-day visit Katie paid last spring. That would be Katie Thornton, who also interviewed me a few months ago for a podcast and probably also during `On the Media` from WNYC, which WRMI then started carrying. 0140 operatic music and more tunes for Xmas. 0152 confirms date is 20 Dec. What`s wrong? But 6160- is on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5850, Dec 24 at 0720, JBA carrier instead of TOMBS inbooming on WRMI-12: exciter only or totally off clearing for something else, nothing listed. T.S. is close to WHBO, Pinellas Park, U2 3600/420. Radio-locator shows night pattern with a minor lobe to NW, not day pattern. Certainly doing well if 420 watts. The only other FL on 1040 is WURN Miami, Spanish beamed away from us, but closer to Naples than WHBO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1539.93 approx., Dec 21 at 0305/0330, Spanish talk somewhat separable from the 1540 stations direct, no doubt KGBC Galveston TX as usual way off-frequency. Lots of adstrings. After 0347, I get better reception in SAL mode via an Austin SDR - none in Houston - including mentions of Houston and phone numbers with ACs 713 and 281 which fit. Exact frequency readout is too unstable, not sure if station, SDR, or QRM, but there is a considerable LAH. mwoffsets puts it on 1539.995 but it`s a lot more than 5 Hz low.
